Our Founder
When German native Werner Kuhn began cooking at the tender age of 15, little did he know that this passion would grow into a fiery 30+ year love affair with Malaysia. Yet it did. The former Michelin star chef arrived in 1987 on Penang, where he delighted guests for 10 years before relocating to Kuala Lumpur. After decades of being attached to hotels, Werner decided it was time to branch out on his own and his first company was born, perfecting delicious meals for large scale catering operations throughout the country.
After retiring from this business in 2000, Werner felt the itch to cook again in 2005. El Cerdo, a western-style pork specialty restaurant saw the light of day. Then, one by one, The Whisky Bar, The Steakhouse, Dining In The Dark, Opium and his latest venture, CIELO Sky Dining & Lounge were born.
His vision for Werner’s Deli is simple. To serve you mouth-watering, rustic dishes prepared as they were traditionally intended, packed with flavour and nutrients. Werner has personally selected his favourite recipes from his outlets in KL and adapted them to the “heat to eat” concept, allowing you to dine on chef-prepared dishes at home, any time the craving hits!

Rustic
We value traditionally proven recipes in all our restaurants in Kuala Lumpur. There’s no fusion or twist to our dishes, they are original and hearty, like mama made. We call our cuisine rustic and you’ll be able to image families and campesinos eating it 100 years ago.
